Brandy and Casey love skiing so when we first started planning their engagement photos we thought about capturing them in their element on a ski slope. However, since winter wasn’t generous with the snow this year, we decided to stay in Sauk City WI and do more urban engagement session. And it worked out great as these two are so easy to photograph and so sweet together. There was still some snow left on the ground so instead of skis we played with sleds. Thank you for a fun session! I can’t wait to capture your wedding in August, I am sure we won’t have to bundle up then

Winners of the Best of 2011 Photo Contest – Sauk Prairie WI Wedding Photographer
Thank you so much for participating in my first ever best photo contest I hope you had as much fun as I did following your excitement and all the comments and “likes” on Facebook. This week I was faced with a challenging task of validating and tallying up all the votes. After counting and re-checking everything three times I can share with you now that the winners are… Kathleen and Ryan from image #31! Their prize is a beautiful 16×20 float wrap with a wedding image of their choice. Congratulations! But that is not all… Originally I didn’t plan on having a second place, however I decided to offer it after all the effort that Jessica and Brett (from image #26) put into campaigning for their winning portrait. With just a few votes less than the winning couple, they will receive an 11×14 art print.

Best of 2011 Contest – Vote For Your Favorite Photo – Prairie du Sac, WI Photographer
When I thought about what to write about for my first blog post in 2012, I had an idea to make it into a contest. So here we go…!
Let’s go back to 2011 and enjoy it for a little longer… Here are my favorite images from all the weddings, family and senior sessions that I had a pleasure to capture last year. It was almost an impossible task to pick just one photograph from each session. If I had to do it again my choices would probably be different, but here in this post are my first impressions of favorites.

Abby and Jon – Engagement Photos, Sauk Prairie WI
Abby and Jon met at one of the more unusual Wisconsin events – The State Cow Chip Throw hosted every year right here in Prairie du Sac, WI. The proposal was a little more romantic than a poop throwing contest It happened in Jon’s home town in Michigan, after a baseball game. Despite the fact that the team they were rooting for lost – Abby and Jon both won that day. With all of his buddies present he proposed kneeling down just in front of the stadium and shocked and happy Abby said “yes”. They both are such enthusiastic sports fans, no wonder that after their engagement session they were off to Madison to watch a Badger game. Wishing you many more winning moments. Katie and Jake – Engagement Photos, Spring Green WI
Another fall engagement session with another great couple. Katie and Jake are fun, radiating good energy, quick to laugh, so in love and just happy together. They were constantly brightening the location with their smiles. It was easy to photograph their inner glow and beautiful spirit. We met in a park near Spring Green WI where they both come from and where they are going to have their wedding next year. Can’t wait Thank you for choosing me for your big day! Jessica and Bill – Engagement Portraits, Baraboo WI
Jessica warned me before this engagement session that Bill doesn’t like his photos taken. I prepared accordingly however it turned out that I didn’t have to. Bill was a natural in front of the camera and I had a great time capturing the two of them last week in Devil’s Lake SP. Jessica and Bill brought their new dog – Beefy to the session. He was a perfect model as well, calm, patient and with great expression. Here is a little sneak peek!

Practice, Practice, Practice – Engagement Photographer, Madison WI
Last week my photographer friend Lori Compas and I got a chance to practice our posing skills as well as using an off camera flash with this cute couple. The sun was high in the sky, which is probably the most challenging time of the day for portraits. However our models, Crystal and Adam, were great to work with and I think we managed to overpower the sun Thank you for being so incredibly patient with us. Sarah and Trent – Beloved Session, Spring Green WI Photographer
Sarah and Trent are a warm, sweet, friendly and deeply-in-love couple. This session was their fifth anniversary gift to themselves. What an amazing idea to celebrate love! They were so into each other, genuine, loving and happy. Capturing their special connection was an amazing experience for me, my first attempt at the beloved session. The farm where they live near Spring Green, WI had everything a photographer might wish for: an old barn, hay bales, wild flowers and lots of trees. Just perfect. See for yourself…

Missy and Josh – Engagement Photography, Spring Green WI
It was a HOT day when I met Missy and Josh for their engagement session last week. Fortunately the park near Spring Green WI was full of shade and even some wind so we didn’t melt completely . Despite the heat,l Missy and Josh were real troopers – posing, moving and smiling for the best shots. Missy and Josh asked if it was OK to bring their dog Ellie for the session as well and I was all for it. Ellie turned out to be one of the most friendly and obedient dogs I’ve met, I was really impressed how well trained she was. Thank you for the evening together and I am looking forward to capturing you again on your wedding day!
