Today’s blog post features Cheyenne from Baraboo High School. She loves animals and her senior session included four: her favorite cat and three family dogs. This was probably the most pets I’ve worked with in one shoot! We had a great weather and surprisingly no mosquitoes, even though one of the locations was by pond. Cheyenne, thank you for a great time and I wish you the very best as you head into your senior year!

Today I want to share with you Hannah’s senior session that we shot this summer in the Sauk Prairie area. We actually ended up meeting three times for her pictures! The first time a big storm interrupted our shoot, so we continued on our scheduled backup date and we couldn’t have asked for a better weather that day! Hannah had a vision for wild flowers in her senior pictures and I was thrilled to find a gorgeous wild prairie in full bloom just a couple of days before our shoot. We wouldn’t have known about this location if the storm hadn’t happen on the first day! The third time we got together for a few photos in a school locker. Hannah, you are such a beautiful young woman inside and out.  Have a great senior year!

It was such a treat to photograph Thomas! We first met a few years ago when his sister had her senior session. Love it when clients keep coming back and it’s fun to see how families grow and change over the years. Thomas changed into a good looking and kind young man (and on top of that super comfortable in front of a camera!). He wanted to include his classic old Cougar that was a gift from his grandpa in some of the shots. This was my first senior session with a car as a prop so I was excited to try something new. We found a secluded country road which was a perfect location for car photos (and a few family portraits) and then drove to downtown Baraboo for the rest of his session. Thomas was a total natural in front of the lens and required very little direction. Thanks for making my job super easy! I wish you the very best as you finish out your senior year!

Last week I had a chance to document a wonderful retreat here in Madison facilitated by a talented coach, speaker, author, re-calibration expert and my past branding client- Kirsty Blattner. These were two days full of mindset shifts, phenomenal breakthroughs, fun hands-on activities, inspiring life stories, dancing, music, not to mention unicorns and sparkles 🙂

Kirsty is a dynamic, hilarious and passionate coach with a gift to uplift, inspire and empower others to transform their lives from stuck to sublime. It was wonderful to experience deep connections with like minded people. I’m impressed and inspired by everybody’s vulnerability, strength and willingness to have faith and take massive leaps.  After the two days everybody left feeling energized, supported, focused and like an unstoppable force ready to change the world! I did my best to capture the essence of the retreat and hope you’ll enjoy the photos below…

I’m super excited to share these photos from Lauren and Brittany’s big day! They traveled from Minneapolis to get married earlier this month at The Wisconsin State Capitol. The intimate ceremony included just the closest family and friends and the cutest ring bearer I’ve ever photographed! Congratulations on a beautiful celebration of your love and thank you for having me there to document it for you! All the best, always!

When I first heard about an opportunity to photograph Escape Adulthood Summit the name resonated with me so strong that I immediately was all in even without really knowing what it was all about. The event turned out to be a two day fun-filled retreat/workshop/mastermind where participants had a chance to get in touch with their playful selves, get inspired how to make their lives more fun and play with other kindred spirits who are on the forefront of combating adultis in our mostly serious and stressful world.

Kim and Jason Kotecki, who organize the summit (this was their seventh!), created a safe space where everybody was comfortable to feel like a kid again – focusing on joy and living totally in the moment. Below are photos from the event that capture the spirit of childhood and all the fun participants had over those two summer days.

Kim and Jason, thank you for having me document your event! I LOVE the transformation you’re bringing into the world. Keep shining your lights and being an inspiration to many!

Cassi is going to be a senior at Sauk Prairie High School but she chose Memorial Union at UW Madison campus for a location of her senior session. It was a beautiful summer evening, which meant a lot of people at the Union. We embraced the crowds in a few shots and were able to find lots of other spots with beautiful light and without crowds in the background 🙂 A few days later we met again at Cassi’s family farm for a few photos with her dogs and parents. From urban to country we got the best of both worlds. Thank you so much for shooting with me Cassi! I wish you the best for your senior year!

Cheryl and Steve’s kids and grandkids were coming for a visit for the 4th of July weekend and it was a perfect opportunity to celebrate the occasion with family portraits. After a very rainy June we were lucky to have a sunny day for our session and even mosquitoes were nice enough to not bother us too much. 9 years ago I photographed Cheryl’s daughter’s wedding and it was wonderful to see how her family grew over the years. Thank you for having me and I hope to see you again soon!!

Family visits are always a great opportunity for extended family portraits. When family members live in different states it’s always a special occasion when they all get together. Sharon and Walter visited one of their sons in Madison earlier this summer and they all invited me to come over to capture some family pictures. We lucked out with the weather, mosquitoes and light and spent an evening at a nearby park posing for photos. Thank you for having me over! I loved working with you all and hope you’ll enjoy these photos for years to come!

Melissa planned out a day full of fun activities for her thirtieth birthday celebrations. One of them was a surprise birthday photoshoot for her and her closest friends (some of them she’s known since 5th grade!) at Tenney Park in Madison. There was a big chance of thunderstorms on the forecast but fortunately the weather cooperated with us. The whole group arrived on the bus in great spirits (after their first stop at a winery) and we spent part of an afternoon playing around the park. Everybody was full of smiles and I love how we were able able to capture joy and great energy in these images. Thanks for having me be part of your day Melissa! Your friends are super fun and I hope these birthday photos will make you feel like you’re back there again celebrating your day 🙂
