It’s time for Melanie and Adam’s wedding photos on the blog! The day started beautifully with a slightly overcast sky and a pleasant temperature; perfect for photos. I met Melanie and the girls at St John in Reedsburg WI, where they were getting ready. I loved how nice and bright the room was; with stained glass windows and a huge wall mirror, it definitely stood out compared to other churches. Adam arrived for the ‘first look’ at the church. Then we were off to a park for some wedding party photos.
After all the heavy rains we’ve had recently it was a little challenging to find a good location for bride and groom portraits. When I went scouting a day earlier, the ground in the parks was completely soaked or even flooded. The mosquitoes were pretty bad, too. South Park – with an asphalt road – turned out to be a good choice, and this is where we decided to go. Unfortunately it started to sprinkle when we got there. The rain was a surprise because it wasn’t in the forecast when I checked the weather that morning. Melanie REALLY didn’t want to get her hair wet so we worked very fast and under tree branches and then somebody suggested the Reedsburg Train Depot (which now serves as the 400 State Trail headquarters as well as the office of Reedsburg Chamber of Commerce) for a possible dry location. Indeed everybody could fit in nicely under the overhang 🙂
The rain did get heavier but by then we were all back at the church for the ceremony. Both Melanie and Adam are from Reedsburg and both have large families so the church was packed with guests. The pastor’s speech was quite funny. He mentioned that it was the first time in a while since he met a couple where both partners couldn’t stop talking; both only sharing how wonderful the other is.
The next stop after the ceremony was ‘Just One’ bar in Downtown Reedsburg. And after that everybody drove to the Rock Springs Community Center for the reception. DJs Daryl and Steve knew how to run a fun party, a lot of people were dancing and everybody was having a great time.
Melanie and Adam, thank you for having me. You’re beautiful together and I wish all the best in your life ahead!
