WPPI 2013 Convention and Trade Show – Sauk Prairie Photographer

Last week was again Vegas time for me! This was the fourth time that I attended there the biggest photo convention and trade show of the year – WPPI 2013– Wedding and Portrait Photographers International. One of the many things I love about being a photographer and a small business owner is that I will never ever stop learning and I welcome all opportunities to do so. I’m a huge believer in continuing education and at  WPPI,  I had more than enough learning opportunities to choose from. It was a very intense and action packed week full of classes, workshops, shoot outs, meeting old and new friends, browsing two huge trade show floors and trying to soak in as much as possible. I must admit I feel overwhelmed with all that photo related goodness but at the same time recharged, inspired, motivated and full of good thoughts and ideas. Now the most difficult part will be to implement at least some of them. It will be a challenge, as every change is, but I also know that I can do it. And it can only get better. 🙂 Check out these photos below to see some of my WPPI 2013 highlights…

the famous Vegas sign

an evening walk on the Vegas Strip resulted in quite a few blisters…

Whenever and wherever Jerry Ghionis speaks it’s always a great show 🙂

Sue Bryce – the queen of posing, huge ballroom was packed with eager learners

Jesh’s goal was to deliver a mind blowing class. With his wise and inspiring words, flying beach balls, a suitcase full of cash and a very moving song at the end – he definitely succeeded 🙂

Posing for this one photo below that my friend Patrycja (from Fig Tree Photography in PA) took on the Vegas Strip took almost 15 minutes. Our feet were so sore we couldn’t walk anymore and decided to play a little instead. All stars had to align for this one shot: perfect light from a constantly changing bus stop LED billboard, empty street behind and no crowds on the sidewalk. I definitely feel much better on the other side of the lens 😉

Most of our days were spent at MGM Grand where the convention takes place every year. The hotel is huge, almost like a small indoor town. And of course there are plenty of movie star photos on the corridors and even in the bathrooms. I have no idea who’s in this picture (do you?) but I felt inspired by her pose and the location. 🙂

After all those intense learning days days at WPPI, Patrycja and I decided to stay a little longer and add something different to our Vegas experience: a day trip to Grand Canyon National Park. It was quite a drive but so worth it! I’ll write about it in another post. Till then!
