Mira and Chris – Beloved Photography, Madison WI Photographer

Today I want to share with you one of my biggest WPPI discoveries this year. While in Vegas I had a chance to meet Jesh de Rox and watch a couple of his short presentations about an emerging genre of photography called “Beloved”. Seeing Jesh work and witnessing amazing results he was creating with couples who volunteered to be his “muses” was an amazing experience. It was unbelievable how in the middle of a crowded, busy and noisy tradeshow floor he could draw beautiful, authentic, deep emotions from his subjects. It was hard to hold back tears. Immediately I was hooked, it felt so right and I wanted to know more. I learned about The Beloved Collective that serves and supports the amazing community of photographers who are integrating Beloved Technique into their portrait sessions through products, online training courses and an annual conference. I am so excited to be now a part of this amazing group. In addition to launching a new website the Beloved Collective has just released the first Family Field Guide, which brings the power of Beloved Technique to the fields of family & children photography. I bought it and started studying it immediately 🙂

I will be participating in a Beloved training soon and can’t wait to incorporate this technique with my clients. I have always strived to capture people’s inner beauty, but I admit that at times it was challenging. Now with the Beloved approach I am confident I can do it with anybody, even people who don’t feel comfortable at all in front of the camera.

I actually couldn’t wait to try the new technique and I had my first beloved session while still in Vegas. Mira and Chris have been married for over 20 years. When I explained the concept to them they were not sure if they would be my best models. Fortunately I was able to convince them otherwise and I am so glad I did! It was beautiful to witness how quickly they opened up and expressed their authentic emotions, genuine personalities and love they feel for each other. After so may years it was still almost tangible. Here are a few images from our quick Beloved photography session. I think they did great, what do you think?
