International Festival at the Overture Center – Madison WI Event Photography

Madison, WI offers many wonderful family events throughout the year and International Festival at the Overture Center for the Arts is definitely our favorite in winter months. We go with the kids almost every year to see performers from all over the world who now call Madison their home. Beautiful crafts, flavorful ethnic foods, vibrant costumes and of course music from every corner of the world were all worth the drive last Sunday in a very icy conditions. With a long list of performances on six stages it was impossible to see everything. We mostly stayed at the Capitol Theater and enjoyed the shows there as well as a few more at 3 other stages. Scottish, Indian, Middle East dances, fiery flamenco performance, Chinese lion dance, Argentinian tango, Swiss mountain music, Klezmer songs, Brazilian capoeira – it was like taking a trip around the world in one day. If you like different cultures this event is an awesome (and free!) celebration you should definitely experience. This was the 31 International Festival and I’m sure there will be many more to come. Hopefully see you there next year!

Swiss Alphorn Duet with four members 🙂 I understand that each instrument was made from one piece of pine tree trunk specifically grown crooked for this purpose.

Chinese lions were dancing all over the Overture Hall lobby.

Cuban music always makes my feet dance 🙂

This year at the International Festival the girls decided to experience a little bit of Indian flair 🙂
